Garlic is a healthy and aromatic vegetable that is grown in many gardens.
In order to grow large and juicy heads of garlic, you need to follow several conditions: plant the plant correctly, cover it for the winter and fertilize it in time in the spring.
Fertilizing garlic promotes active growth of green mass, strengthening of the root system, improvement of taste and resistance to diseases.
One of the best means for feeding garlic is a solution of magnesium sulfate (magnesium acid) and ammonium nitrate.
These mineral fertilizers contain nitrogen, magnesium and sulfur – important elements for garlic nutrition. Nitrogen promotes the growth of green mass and the formation of large heads.
Magnesium is involved in photosynthesis and provides bright color to the leaves. Sulfur enhances the aroma and pungency of garlic and protects it from fungal diseases.
To prepare a solution for feeding garlic, mix 20 g of ammonium nitrate and 20 g of magnesium sulfate with 10 liters of water. This solution can be used to water or spray garlic.
The first feeding is done when the garlic has 3-5 leaves (late March - early April).
The second feeding is done 2-3 weeks after the first. The third feeding is needed at the beginning of flowering (late May - early June). 3 liters of solution are used per 1 square meter of the bed.
Feeding garlic with this solution helps to obtain a good harvest of juicy and large heads that will be stored for a long time and have a good taste and smell.
