Peonies are among the first to bloom from bright colors. But over time, the perennial can begin to upset the gardener: the buds begin to shrink, and the flowering is not at all pleasing to the eye. Ammonium nitrate helps in this regard.
When to feed peonies
It is best to apply in early spring and best with fertilizers that contain nitrogen. The mentioned supplement contains up to 33% easily assimilable nitrogen.
As for urea, it is not so effective in this regard. The fact is that ammonium nitrate contains nitrate and ammonium forms of nitrogen.
The first is easily absorbed by the root system, due to which the above-ground part grows like yeast and becomes a more saturated green color.
The second form remains in the soil and is absorbed gradually, due to which the plant has enough reserves of this substance for a long time.
How to proceed
To feed one adult bush, you need to dissolve 1 tablespoon of ammonium nitrate in 5 liters of water and apply the solution under the root.
On damp soil, fertilizer can be simply scattered under the bush.
