A weevil that lays eggs in strawberry buds can leave you without the long-awaited harvest of sweet and tasty berries.

To ensure its offspring, the parasite eats out the cores of flowers, destroying their chances of forming berries.

And considering the fact that just one female pest can damage up to 100 flowers, it is easy to imagine the damage that the weevil can cause to your strawberry plantation.

An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh named the first sign that the weevil has gone on the warpath, that is, on the beds planted with strawberries.

These are nothing more than small holes on the leaves. If you notice them, you should immediately start fighting the parasite.

To do this, you will have to carry out three treatments.

The first of these is carried out before the strawberry blossoms, the second during blossoming, and the third 10 days after blossoming.

Supporters of purchased products should take a closer look at biopreparations with the main active ingredient avermectin.

Among folk methods, garlic has proven itself well, which can be planted along the edge of the bed, or a remedy using ammonia - dilute 2 tablespoons of alcohol in 10 liters of water and pour it over the strawberries from a watering can.
