During the strawberry bloom period, gardeners continue to care for the plant in order to collect more large and juicy berries.
When the strawberry plant is covered with white flowers, gardeners carry out two important procedures.
Caring for strawberries
During the flowering period, the bed has time to become overgrown with grass. Therefore, first of all, weeds are removed, if necessary.
The soil is loosened so that oxygen and moisture can better reach the roots. The tendrils are removed from the bushes so that they do not take away some of the nutrients. These resources will be used to form the harvest.
Top dressing
During the flowering period, one of the last opportunities to feed strawberries appears. There are two options for feeding.
1. Ten liters of water are mixed with 500 g of ash and 500 ml of nettle infusion. Preparation of this fertilizer takes time, because the "green" part of the fertilizer must be infused.
2. If there is no time to prepare fertilizer, dissolve 1 tbsp. of organic fertilizer “Yagodka” and 1 tsp. of potassium sulfate in 10 liters of water.
One of the compositions is used to water strawberries at the root. The plants respond well to such care and delight with large and juicy fruits.
