At the end of April and beginning of May, if the weather permits, summer residents plant white cabbage in open ground.
An important procedure is carried out soon after planting. Feeding cabbage is a necessary action that will help lay the foundation for an excellent harvest.
Top dressing after planting
Usually, summer residents apply the first fertilizing 10-14 days after planting in open ground. For this, they use fertilizers containing nitrogen and calcium.
For example, the following options are suitable for this:
- ammonium nitrate – 20-30 g per 10 l of water;
- urea – 15-25 g per 10 l of water;
- chicken manure or mullein - solution in a ratio of 1:20-25.
But the first is soon followed by the second. It is also no less important for the formation of large and dense heads of cabbage.
Second feeding
It is carried out on average two weeks after the first one. For this, they also use compositions that are rich in nitrogen:
- calcium nitrate – 10-20 g per 10 l of water;
- ammonium nitrate;
- urea.
During the season, 4 additional fertilizings are carried out. But in subsequent cases, the emphasis shifts from nitrogen fertilizers to potassium ones.
