Strawberries are a seasonal berry that adds a special flavor to various dishes and becomes their highlight.
If there is free space, all summer residents try to plant at least a couple dozen bushes of this plant in order to enjoy the taste of juicy and aromatic berries in the spring or early summer.
Pest
But gardeners who grow this crop have one enemy – the weevil. This pest is capable of destroying part of the harvest or leaving it without berries at all.
To prevent this from happening, summer residents treat their plantings with a simple solution. The folk remedy does not contain dangerous chemicals, so it can be used even on the eve of harvesting.
How to get rid of a pest
The weevil cannot stand strong smells. This is what summer residents take advantage of. They use two simple means of choice.
In the first case, garlic is used: 5-6 crushed cloves per 1 liter of water. Insist for 3 days in the dark and cool, and then add 50 ml of pine extract.
The weevil also does not like the aroma of calendula and tansy. These herbs are poured with water (1:10), infused for 3 days, and then the strawberries are processed.
