What to Consider If You Want to Grow Tasty and Sweet Beets: A Mistake Beginner Gardeners Make

If you want the beets you harvest from your own garden to grow tasty and sweet, contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to “freak out” over them.

Some summer residents, of course, who have sufficient experience, get exactly this kind of harvest without dancing with a tambourine.

What tricks do they resort to in order to achieve their goal?

It's all very simple - the trick is choosing the right seeds.

When purchasing seed material, pay attention to the fact that the package contains an inscription indicating that this variety is sugar or sweet.

If you grab a package of beet seeds from the counter without even looking at their characteristics, you may be in for an unpleasant discovery at the end of the season.

At the same time, no fertilizers – not even the notorious salt – can change the situation, because fertilizers do not affect the varietal characteristics of the root crop.

In addition, adhere to the recommended sowing dates (beets do not tolerate early sowing), and a month before harvesting, add potassium to the beds, which increases the sugar content in the fruit.
