In the spring, when the soil has warmed up thoroughly, you can start fertilizing the currants so that you can harvest buckets of them in the summer.
Gardeners have several options for fertilizing fruit bushes after winter.
Mineral fertilizers
While the currant is just waking up after winter and unfurling its leaves, it needs nitrogen. The plant will receive this macronutrient from urea (carbamide), nitroammophoska or ammonium nitrate.
In the second half of spring, currants are fertilized with potassium sulfate. Around the beginning or middle of May, the bushes are watered with a solution of 10 g of potassium sulfate per 10 liters of water.
Vitamin "cocktail"
A mixture of nutrients will significantly increase the yield. During flowering, the currant is sprayed with a solution: 2 g of copper sulfate, 3 g of boric acid, 3 g of ammonium molybdate per 10 liters of water.
Chicken manure
Fruit bushes love this fertilizer, but it should not be fresh. Use 2-3-week-old manure. The fertilizer is scattered under the bushes - ½ bucket per 1 "square".
Compost and humus
These organic fertilizers are among the best for currants in spring. They contain the most essential nutrients for the bushes.
Compost or humus is supplemented with ash - 1 glass per bucket of fertilizer. The mixture is spread under the bushes, and then lightly dug into the soil.
