Strawberries or garden strawberries are berries that have beneficial properties and a pleasant taste.

To get a good strawberry harvest, you need to take care of it: feed it and water it on time.

But there are a few more tips that will help you grow big, juicy and sweet berries.

Let's find out what secrets there are to increasing strawberry yields.

Planting different varieties

Many experienced gardeners plant not one variety of garden strawberries on their plots, but several. This allows them to increase the quantity and quality of berries.

Mulching

Mulching is an important process that accomplishes two things: it eliminates weeds that compete with berries for water and keeps the soil moist and loose in all weather conditions. It also keeps the berries clean and dry until they are picked.

To do this, you need to distribute mulch between the rows.

Various materials can be used as mulch: non-woven fabrics, hay, pine needles, peat or film.

Trimming

Trimming the leaves of garden strawberries should be done 10 days before the berries begin to ripen.

You can remove every second leaf - this is about a third of the total mass of leaves.

By removing excess leaves, the berries will receive enough light, grow faster and have larger, tastier berries.
