A poor parsley harvest is often not due to poor quality seeds, but to ignoring the rules for caring for the greens.
An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh spoke about the reasons why parsley does not germinate well.
Early sowing
As you know, parsley contains a large amount of essential oils, and if it is cold outside, they simply will not allow the seeds to germinate.
It is worth starting to plant this crop in late spring, when the soil is already well warmed up - the sprouts will hatch after 5-7 days.
Soil preparation, or rather, the lack thereof
The next mistake is that the summer resident “forgot” about the need to prepare the beds for sowing parsley.
In the prepared soil, it is worth making furrows in it. The seeds are lowered into slightly damp soil to a depth of up to 2 cm if the soil is light, and up to 1.5 cm if the soil is heavy. All that remains is to sprinkle the furrows with soil and compact them slightly.
Moistening the soil
Until the first shoots appear above the ground, the soil must be constantly moist.
In order to retain moisture, you can purchase a special covering material. At the same time, it is worth ensuring that the parsley beds receive sufficient sunlight.
