Many gardeners treat nettles as a weed that takes up space on the plot and stings their legs and arms.

However, experienced gardeners know that nettle is valuable for the garden. It's not just about the tincture from this "weed".

What are the benefits of nettles?

1. Cultivated plants that grow near nettles have stronger immunity. For example, experienced gardeners recommend planting tomatoes near nettles - this way they will be more resistant to late blight.

In addition, summer residents have noticed that cabbage growing near nettles is less likely to be attacked by caterpillars and slugs.

2. It is recommended to throw humus from under nettles into planting holes. But it is important to know the sense of proportion, otherwise the plants will start to "grow fat" later.

Fertilizer from nettle

To prepare a classic "green fertilizer" nettles are collected. It is enough to use the above-ground part, but you can also chop the roots.

Pour the raw material into a plastic barrel or bucket, then pour boiling water over it and leave for 10-14 days. Cover the infusion with a lid. There is no need to hide it under a roof, it is better to leave it in the sun.

The infusion is stirred daily with a wooden stick. The fertilizer will be ready when the liquid darkens. The infusion is applied under the root at intervals of 14 days.
