There are many conditions that must be met to obtain a bountiful strawberry harvest.

This includes timely watering of the plant, adding fertilizers, and fighting diseases.

There is another important point - choosing a place to plant the crop.

If you find the most suitable area for the berries, then the first serious contribution to increasing the yield will be made.

There are three characteristics that can be used to describe the ideal location for planting strawberries.

Soil type

Rocks that are too loose are not suitable for strawberries. Sand is obviously a bad option.

But sandy loam is more suitable. Strawberries can also be grown on light loams.

Soil acidity

Slightly acidic soils are most suitable for the crop.

But high soil acidity can lead to unfavorable consequences. You should not count on a bountiful harvest of berries when growing on such soil.

Location of groundwater

A site with a high level of groundwater is absolutely not suitable for strawberries. The fact is that a large amount of moisture can cause a sharp drop in berry yield.

Low groundwater levels are ideal conditions for the plant.

Therefore, planting strawberries on a hill is the right decision. If there is no such area at the dacha, it is advisable to make a mound.
