Every gardener dreams of growing large, sweet, smooth and juicy carrots, which, if necessary, can be stored in the cellar until spring.

To successfully grow carrots and not complain about the result, summer residents remember the simple rules.

Where is it better to sow?

Summer residents advise making a bed for carrots on a plot where onions, tomatoes or beans were previously grown. These are ideal places for root crops. Beds where cabbage, radishes and horseradish were previously grown will be backup options.

Acidity is not of particular importance for carrots. Loose soil is important. Therefore, dig thoroughly so that the soil is soft at a depth of 30-35 cm. Clay soil will not allow you to grow an excellent carrot harvest.

What to feed

Azofoska is the simplest and most reliable option. It contains all the components in equal and required quantities for carrots. If the soil is fertile, then 10 g per 10 l of water is enough. If the soil is poor, then the dosage is increased to 30 g.

At all stages of development, carrots need high-quality watering. A month before harvesting, feed with potassium monophosphate. Carrots without potassium grow bland and dry.

Thinning

The optimal distance between root crops is 3-5 cm. “Bald” beds look unusual, but the harvest in the fall will surprise even an experienced gardener.
