Experienced gardeners know many methods of pre-sowing treatment of seed onions. We will tell you about one of them today.
We will talk about soaking the seed material in a soda solution.
It is believed that such manipulations lead to the onion stopping bolting and the yield increasing.
If you decide to prove this hypothesis on your own experience, you need to prepare a soda solution, for which you will need a liter of warm water (55-60 degrees) and 1 teaspoon of soda.
Before immersing the onion in the resulting solution, it is worth slightly removing the scales (it is not necessary to remove them completely).
Now you can safely throw the onion into the liquid – it should lie here for about 30 minutes.
To prevent the solution from cooling down too quickly, cover the container with the onion with a lid and wrap it in a blanket.
Once the procedure is complete, remove the onion from the solution, rinse in warm water and lay it out on a towel to dry. After 1.5 hours, you can begin planting.
