Zucchini is not one of the “demanding” garden crops.
To obtain a bountiful harvest, it is enough to follow only the basic rules of plant care.
So, you need to add certain fertilizers and take into account the nuances of watering.
In addition, it is advisable to perform one important procedure after the first fruits have formed.
Three feedings
A summer resident who wants to harvest a lot of zucchini should feed the plant three times during the entire summer season.
The first time this should be done 10 days after transplanting the seedlings into open ground. During this period, the plant needs nitrogen. The ideal option is a herbal infusion. To prepare it, you need to pour green mass (burdock, plantain, nettle) with water: for 1 volume of herbs - 10 volumes of liquid.
The second feeding should be done immediately after the flowering process begins. The emphasis, again, should be on nitrogen and "organic matter".
As soon as the fruits begin to form, the potassium deficiency in the soil should be replenished. You need to pour water over the ash: 6 volumes of liquid per 1 volume of unburned wood residue. You can use this infusion in the garden bed 24 hours after the start of preparation.
Watering
The procedure should not be carried out too often. Excess moisture can cause a drop in squash yields and a deterioration in the taste of the fruit.
The soil under the garden crop should not be constantly wet.
Therefore, weekly watering is enough. And in hot periods, 2-3 procedures per month will be enough.
10 days before the planned start of harvesting vegetables, you should completely stop watering.
Removing the first fruits
As soon as the first zucchini appear on the bushes, you need to start monitoring their size.
Has the indicator reached 12 centimeters? Feel free to pick the first two or three formed fruits.
This action will significantly increase the likelihood that many large and strong zucchini will appear in the future.
