Many gardeners make these mistakes year after year, and then wonder why the harvest is poor.
In practice, there are more miscalculations, but experienced summer residents identify three key mistakes.
Mulching
A useful procedure, but here the miscalculation is in the details. Ideally, the procedure is carried out 3 times a year: in spring, summer and autumn.
Not removing old mulch after the snow melts is a mistake. It prevents the soil from warming up and becomes a breeding ground for diseases and pests.
Incorrect feeding
Manure and wood ash are among the most popular fertilizers. But they are not always useful. For example, if ash is not suitable for alkaline soil. The same situation is with manure, but in the opposite direction.
Violation of crop rotation
All plants grown in the garden can be divided into groups. They have a similar structure, they are attacked by the same pests and diseases, and require similar nutrients.
Therefore, “similar” plants are not planted in the same place every year, but the rules of crop rotation are observed.
Vegetables and fruits are also planted taking into account favorable neighborhoods. For example, onions and carrots are planted nearby, but it is difficult to find a suitable neighbor for fennel.
