There is one positive sign associated with the fern: finding a flowering plant on the holiday of Ivan Kupala meant gaining wealth, secret knowledge, the gift of clairvoyance and control over spirits.

But they looked for a flowering fern in the forest - no one would even think of bringing it home and then feeding it with fertilizers in the hope of getting it to bloom.

In ancient times, various signs were associated with the fern, which promised not the most pleasant consequences.

Superstitions and folk signs associated with the fern

The fern was used by shamans and witches for their occult works. It is believed that if the plant grows in the house, it seems to draw life force from its owners.

According to popular belief, people who grew ferns at home experienced constant fatigue and apathy.

What Science Says

Science only acknowledges that the fern outlived the dinosaurs, and resolutely rejects various teachings about the movement of energy and omens. This plant purifies the air no worse than other houseplants, freeing it from harmful substances.

From a scientific point of view, the danger of the fern is different. Firstly, its spores can cause an attack in allergy sufferers and asthmatics. Secondly, the spores, if they get into food, can cause intestinal disorders.
