Grapes, like many other garden plants, are threatened by many diseases.
Among them is oidium. This is a fungal disease that instantly takes over the entire bush, covering the leaves and bunches with a gray coating.
The disease can deprive the harvest in 1-2 weeks, so you need to act quickly and decisively. Considering this fact, it is better to prevent the appearance of oidium than to fight it later.
There is always a minimal risk that a fungal disease will appear on the site. But you can reduce the likelihood if you do not create favorable conditions for the development of pathogens.
Particular vigilance is required when it is hot (+30 °C) and humid outside. These are “paradise” conditions for the development of fungal diseases.
If you add the denseness of the grapes, which have not been pruned for several seasons, then there is a high risk of developing the disease.
If oidium does appear, it is necessary to carry out treatment. The following preparations are suitable for this: Topaz, Fundazol, Aktara.
There are grape varieties that are highly resistant. Oidium is less dangerous for Chardonnay, Charlie, Vera, White Miracle, and Aligote.
