Without spring fertilizing, you shouldn’t expect a rich strawberry harvest.

Considering that many effective compositions can be prepared by yourself, saving on fertilizers does not make sense. Let's figure out what you can feed strawberries with in the spring.

When to feed

It is important to wait until the snow melts and the melt water, which washes away nutrients from the soil, goes away.

After this, you should wait until the soil warms up thoroughly - up to 10 degrees Celsius. By this time, the bushes will wake up after wintering and their roots will be able to absorb nutrients.

First feeding

This is the most important fertilizer for a strawberry bed. Many gardeners prefer to do this with complex additives containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. All summer residents have heard of nitroammophoska.

To prepare the nutrient mixture, prepare a solution of 1 tbsp. of fertilizer per 10 liters of warm water. Consumption is 0.5 liters per root.

If these are young bushes planted in the fall, which were fertilized during planting, then they do not need to be fertilized.

Also suitable for the first feeding are mullein (1 glass of concentrate per bucket of water) or infusions of grass, yeast and onion peel.

The next fertilizing is done closer to May. Here the emphasis shifts towards potassium and phosphorus.
