Gardeners like to grow cherries on their plots; everything about them is wonderful: their unpretentiousness, appearance, and taste.
However, for a good harvest it is not enough to just plant a tree in the garden and water it. Cherry can unpleasantly surprise with a meager and wormy harvest even with proper care.
In order to avoid the same mistakes every year when it comes to cherry trees, you need to pay attention to the advice when planting cherries.
Planting cherry trees
It is best to plant the cherry tree before the growing season begins in the spring, so that the plant takes root before the shoots begin to grow.
The tree is planted from the end of March and no later than mid-April.
Soil for cherries
The tree will grow well in loamy and sandy loam soils with a neutral acidity level.
If your garden has sandy soil, you will need to apply fertilizer every year.
Please note that it is better not to plant cherries on clay soils or to solve the problem radically: by adding sand.
The tree is not planted on acidic soils. The soil acidity for cherries should not exceed 7.0.
Acidic soil is diluted with dolomite limestone, powdered chalk or lime.
Watering the cherry tree
The scheme is as follows: watering 2 times a week with 2 buckets of water.
Fertilizing Cherry
No fertilizers are applied during the first 2 years. In the third year, nitrogen-containing fertilizers are applied, during flowering, compost and humus are applied, and in the summer, organic matter is applied. Potassium-phosphorus fertilizers are applied in the fall.
For cherries you can use the following fertilizers:
