The result of growing carrots should be obtaining a large number of large and tasty root vegetables.

However, summer residents cannot always boast of such a result.

A common reason for a drop in vegetable yield is the impact of pests on garden crops.

However, one material will help prevent the appearance of dangerous insects in the garden.

What should be in a carrot bed

Immediately after completing the planting procedure of the garden crop, the bed should be covered with spunbond.

It is this non-woven material that will prevent the appearance of the plant’s main enemy on the site – the carrot fly.

Spunbond should be left in the garden until mid-summer. That is, until the period of reduced pest activity begins.

It is worth noting that the coating will not only protect carrots from carrot flies, but will also create ideal conditions for the growth and development of garden crops.

Spunbond is convenient because you can water plants directly through this material. However, the water pressure should not be weak to avoid liquid spreading over the surface.

But replenishing the deficiency of nutrients is not so simple. Especially when it comes to dry fertilizers. They can be applied only after dissolving in water.

However, if necessary, the spunbond can be lifted.
