Not all summer residents know that wood ash can be used not only as a fertilizer.
We tell you about ways to use ash in the garden and vegetable garden.
How to use ash
When planting vegetable, fruit and berry crops, ash can be added directly to the planting hole or pit.
Ash is also added to the soil during digging in spring and autumn.
In addition, you can make an ash solution for watering at the roots.
Seeds (cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplants) are also soaked in an ash solution before sowing.
Dissolve 20 grams of ash (two tablespoons) in a liter of water and leave the seeds for four to six hours.
To protect vegetable crops, fruit trees and berry bushes from pests and diseases, use an ash-soap solution (add 40 grams of soap to 10 liters of ash solution).
It is advisable to spray in the morning or evening in cloudy, but not rainy weather.
It is important to remember that ash cannot be used to feed crops that like acidic soil - strawberries, blueberries, conifers, heathers, hydrangeas, azaleas, rhododendrons.
