Every gardener knows how important seed preparation is for the future harvest of any crop, including cucumbers.
BelNovosti online publication expert, agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh told us what to do with the seeds so that you can treat the whole area with sweet and crispy greens.
As it turned out, the seed material, first of all, should be hardened. The procedure is carried out at the end of February - March, sending cucumber seeds to the refrigerator for some time.
This operation can be carried out even when there is very little time left before sowing - even a week spent in the cold will benefit the cucumbers.
As a result, you will get seeds that have increased cold resistance, which form more female flowers, and therefore, the number of cucumbers removed from the vines will please you.
When choosing the time for sowing, take into account the fact that the optimal age of seedlings for planting in the ground is 25-30 days.
Experienced gardeners advise sowing sprouted cucumber seeds in a greenhouse in early May. In this case, it is worth adding 2-3-year-old rotted manure to the soil - a handful per "square" and a glass of ash for the same area.
All that remains is to water the furrows with a solution of Fitosporin, place the seeds in the soil and sprinkle them with soil by 2-3 cm. If it is still cool outside, consider covering the crops.
