A pathogenic environment in the soil is a real disaster for a gardener and vegetable grower, which will not allow them to grow and harvest a rich harvest of vegetables and fruits.
Science suggests fighting microorganisms with chemical methods, and as an alternative – with green manure. The main thing is to choose the right crop.
However, you can’t just take and sow a crop that one of your neighbors recommended.
First, you need to take into account crop rotation, since green manure crops are also divided into families - cruciferous, cereal, and so on, which in their own way affect the condition of the soil.
But there is a universal option.
In this case, you can count on two effects at once: you can enrich the soil with useful substances and at the same time disinfect it.
We are talking about calendula, which, among other things, is also used in folk medicine.
This plant will cope with the beginnings of diseases in just one sowing campaign.
By the way, many pests chronically cannot stand the proximity of calendula, and all because the plant’s root system releases special substances into the soil.
Despite all these positive properties, calendula is an unpretentious plant.
