At the end of winter, windowsills are full of pots with seedlings that promise a rich harvest in the new season.
However, gardeners often make a number of mistakes, due to which the seedlings rot or die.
An expert of the online publication Belnovosti , agronomist and author of the blog Conscious Gardening Anastasia Kovrizhnykh told us what mistakes should be avoided.
The specialist pointed out that it is worth remembering about drainage and good lighting. In addition, it is important to monitor the watering schedule and disinfect the soil before sowing.
If the soil contains peat, you should pay attention to its freshness. If peat is stored for more than 6 months, phenolic compounds accumulate in it. Because of them, the immune system of young plants weakens.
You can't overdo it with fertilizers. Excessive nitrogen nutrition, incorrectly selected fertilizers and growth stimulants can lead to the activation of pathogenic microflora.
