Indoor plants are in most cases very capricious.
You have to constantly fulfill at least one of their whims so that they do not lose their attractiveness, wither away and die.
If the plants are cold, you have to place the pots away from the windowsill, protect them from drafts, provide them with the necessary humidity in the room, water and care. Otherwise, the plants will never please you with lush flowering and juicy leaves.
One of the issues that worries many flower owners is properly organized watering.
A few little tricks will tell you how to water your flowers less often.
How to make flowers drink less
In particular, it is not about not watering the flowers. The trick is to reduce water loss. What does this mean?
A lot of water is lost due to evaporation from the soil surface and through the walls of pots.
The first thing to do is to replace clay pots with plastic ones. This will help stop the evaporation that occurs through the side walls.
Now it is necessary to reduce evaporation from the upper open part of the pots. And the best option is to cover the surface of the soil with either thick polyethylene or a plastic plate with a slit in the middle.
You can put a layer of swamp moss-sphagnum on the surface. The moss will become a kind of water sponge, will play the role of an additional acidifier of the soil.
Watering plants with slightly acidified water will make organic fertilizers even more beneficial.
In an alkaline environment, any fertilizer will not have the great effect that plants need.
