Gardeners are accustomed to planting winter garlic in late autumn, when the first frosts are about to hit.

Many people ask the question: why should this garlic be planted only in the fall and cannot be planted in the spring?

Not everyone knows what can happen and what will grow from winter garlic.

What kind of harvest will you get from winter garlic?

When planting winter garlic in the spring, by the time of harvesting it may turn out that the cloves are not as large as you would like.

The problem is partly solved simply - by harvesting the crop later. Such garlic should be harvested not at the end of July, but in August, stretching the time by 2-3 weeks.

At the same time, one more question remains unresolved. Instead of full-fledged heads, with such planting, small bulbs will form, consisting of one or several cloves.

This will happen because the teeth do not undergo a special cold testing stage.

If in March or April you find several sprouted garlic heads, you can try planting them along the edges of the beds in the greenhouse.

There is no need to plant such heads deeply in the soil, since the garlic will not need to survive the frosty winter in the ground.

There is no need to specifically store winter garlic until spring, since most of the cloves will have dried out by that time.
