Why does radish go into tops? This question mainly occupies the minds of novice gardeners.

There are three reasons for this:
1) if the garden bed is laid out in the shade;
2) when seeds are deeply planted in the soil;
3) due to tight fit.
If you sow radishes in the shade and densely, and then don’t thin them out, then trouble is inevitable.

As for the sowing depth, on sandy loam soil it is 2-2.5 cm, and on loamy soil 1-1.5 cm.
If the seeds are large, they can be placed deeper, but small ones are always sown closer to the surface in furrows of loose soil.
You also need to monitor the balance of nutrients. If the soil has a lot of nitrogen and you water it abundantly, the result will be the same.
