It is believed that tomato seedlings need to be pricked out, and that this procedure has a beneficial effect on the further development and growth of the bushes.

To carry out the procedure according to all the rules, you need to not only wait for a certain number of leaves to appear, but also choose the right day.

Firstly, the seedlings must develop at least two full leaves.

Tricks of picking

There is an opinion that it is necessary to pinch the taproot. Supporters of this procedure assure that it will serve as a stimulus for the development of powerful fibrous roots.

Those who are against it say that after the main root is shortened by 1/3, the plant needs more time to recover and take root.

Preparation

To begin with, the plants are placed in separate containers, medium in size (up to 150 ml). If you place them immediately in a large pot, the soil may start to sour.

The soil needs to be disinfected, and the seedlings need to be watered shortly before picking.

Picking

The seedlings are taken out one by one, together with the soil on the roots.

When planting a seedling in a new place, the stem is buried up to the cotyledon leaves.

The soil around the stem is pressed down, watered with warm water and sprinkled with earth; you can water it with Epin.

Care after picking

For 2 days, the seedlings are put in a dark place so that they can adapt and take root, then they are exposed to light and provided with conditions with an air temperature of 20-22 degrees during the day (16-18 at night).

Water up to 2 times a week, trying not to let the soil dry out.
