Most often, gardeners who buy seeds from unverified suppliers or even on the Internet find themselves in this situation.

There are many reasons for this, but the main thing is to know how to fix the situation and not repeat the mistake in the future.

Why do seeds germinate poorly?

1. No reputable manufacturer guarantees that their seeds will sprout 100%. And in the best case, this figure does not exceed 80%, and in ideal conditions. If we talk about planting in the ground, the figure drops to 15-25%. Conclusion: buy seeds with a reserve.

2. The seeds may have been collected from the wrong fruits. It is better to take the very first and ripened ones directly on the bushes.

3. This may be due to the specifics of the crop. As in the case of pepper. Soaking the seeds does not give any results here. Only heating at a temperature of +32 degrees Celsius helps.

4. The seeds may not have been stored correctly (ideally at 14-16 degrees Celsius), and many gardeners simply keep their supplies at room temperature.

To avoid problems, you need to soak suspicious seeds as follows:
zucchini and watermelon seeds, cabbage, radish and lettuce are soaked in water at a temperature of 20-25 degrees for 12 hours.

Tomatoes, beets, carrots and parsley 48 hours, and peas and beans are kept in the same conditions for 6 hours. Cucumber seeds are kept in water (+50) for 2 hours.

To soak the seeds, place them in a gauze bag and put them in a container with water, but so that it only slightly covers the seeds.

Stimulants

Good seeds germinate without this, but it is better not to plant anything that has been stored for more than 4 years without stimulants.

The most commonly used are “Zircon” and “Epin-extra”, and from folk remedies, aloe juice is used.
