There is a deep-rooted gardening myth about how you can’t grow a pear tree – supposedly there will be no fruit at all.
They say that a tree growing "alone" will not bear fruit. However, this is only half true.
Experienced gardeners will confirm that the probability of self-pollination is lower for pears than for apple trees.
This is why gardeners try to plant several varieties within one garden to increase the yield.
Few would argue with the effectiveness of such tactics. But it is wrong to say that one tree will definitely not bear fruit.
Bees carry pollen up to 1 km away. Therefore, if neighbors grow a pear of a different variety 200-300 m away, the insect will cross-pollinate the lonely tree.
If there are no pears nearby, there really won't be a harvest. Therefore, it is better to add "neighbors" to the tree to collect full buckets of juicy and aromatic fruits.
