It is necessary to take into account the type of cabbage you decide to grow and the ripening time. It is also important to take into account the climatic conditions of your region, so as not to over-keep the seedlings at home.
When to start sowing
Typically, seed producers recommend starting to plant seeds approximately 35-50 days before the date of transplanting seedlings into the garden bed.
At the same time, there are exceptions to the rules, for example, when planning to plant early cabbage.
Early cabbage
In this case, sowing is no longer carried out in March or April and without taking into account the expected date of transplantation into the ground. You can safely begin in February.
Preparing cabbage seeds
Preliminary preparation is carried out in a cool place. You can put the seeds in the refrigerator or in another place where the air temperature is not higher than 5 degrees plus.
After keeping the seeds in the cold for 12 hours, they should be put in a warm place for the same 10-12 hours. Then the hardening procedure is completely repeated one more time.
Sow the seeds in the soil prepared in containers. Furrows 1.5 cm deep are prepared in advance.
The seeds are placed at a distance of 4 cm. The containers are kept warm until the shoots appear, and then removed to a cool and lighted place.
Then the seedlings grow indoors with a temperature of about 12 degrees Celsius during the day and 6-8 at night.
