Not all landowners are focused exclusively on fruit crops. Many want to have a nice garden with flowers at their dacha.
Experienced gardeners know that in a harsh climate, plants grow more resistant to unpleasant weather surprises. Thanks to this, they delight gardeners with their gorgeous flowering for longer.
Thus, winter sowing solves two problems: it relieves the gardener’s spring schedule and hardens the plants.
Phloxes
But not all flowers can be sown in winter. An excellent option is phloxes - perennial plants (except for Drummond phlox), which will delight you with beautiful flowering for many years.
When to sow
You can start planting seeds in January-February. Cover the planting material with a blanket of snow. Subsequently, you need to make sure that the ground does not remain bare.
For example, if the snow melts, you can cover them with straw, dry grass or a special material.
When the weather gets warmer, the cover can be removed. The first shoots will gradually appear, which will turn into full-fledged flowering plants by August.
When the first shoots appear, phloxes can be transplanted to a place where they will grow permanently.
