Lots of Leaves and Few Flowers: What Mistake Gardeners Make When Growing Lavender

Beauty and unpretentiousness are the distinctive features of this beauty that conquers gardens located far from the Mediterranean climate.

Lavender transforms the area, gives a pleasant aroma, and some gardeners even manage to use it for cosmetic or medical purposes.

When sowing the plant, summer residents expect long and abundant flowering. But sometimes expectations are not met: there are many leaves, but no flowers.

The main mistake

There is one reason for all this. Its roots lie in the habits of gardeners. They mistakenly believe that all flowers need well-fertilized soil.

In fact, lavender should not be overfed. The plant loves dry, rocky soil, and inexperienced gardeners tend to add more compost.

Excess nitrogen has a detrimental effect on lavender. At best, it will simply not bloom, but will grow green mass.

In the worst case, the Mediterranean beauty may die. Overfed lavender has a weak immune system, it becomes easy prey for pests, and diseases progress faster.
