The hot season for summer residents – spring – is just around the corner.
An expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh reminded about an important condition for obtaining strong and healthy seedlings.
It consists of the mandatory preparation of seedling substrate.
First of all, it must be sterile, because the soil may contain pathogens of numerous diseases, pest eggs, etc.
There are several methods that can be used to cultivate the land.
Steaming
To disinfect the soil, it must be kept in a water bath. The procedure should take at least 40 minutes.
Calcination
To do this, you will need an oven in which you need to keep the soil for half an hour at 150-170 degrees.
Strait
In this case, it is worth using a disinfectant solution based on Fitosporin, Maxim, Fundazol and other drugs.
Freezing
This method is no less effective, but it is quite long and takes at least 2 months. It implies that the soil is at a temperature below -10 degrees.
