If the potato crop harvested last season was affected by scab, then there is no point in planting a new bed in that place.

Potatoes will be sick until the soil is put in order. If there are no options, you will have to take measures to prevent the spread of the disease.

Apart from the fact that potatoes with scab are not suitable for long-term storage, nothing terrible will happen. They are edible, fruitful, but the disease leaves no chance of collecting a normal harvest.

To change the situation, you need to cultivate the soil before planting.

1. If possible, you need to leave the area alone for 4-5 years and plant green manure on it.

2. If this is not possible, the scab will have to be destroyed by sowing the soil with legumes, cereals or mustard.

3. After the shoots rise to a height of 15-20 cm, the green manure is embedded in the soil and dug up.

It is believed that this option was practiced in villages by grandparents, which means there is no doubt about its effectiveness. This type of fight can be carried out in the fall and repeated in the spring.

If for some reason there is no time left, then before planting potatoes, the soil is watered with a solution of water and mustard or sprinkled with dry mustard powder.

For those who do not believe in the power of folk remedies, it remains to purchase medications for fungus and other diseases for treatment and prevention.
