Cabbage is susceptible to pest attacks throughout the growing season.
Insects are most dangerous in the early stages of development. Young plants suffer from attacks of cruciferous flea beetles.
The roots of plants suffer from the invasion of caterpillars and cabbage flies. Grown plants are attacked by cabbage moths, aphids and cabbage whites, which leads to a decrease in the yield.
The danger of aphids is that adult insects and larvae feed on plant sap, damaging leaves, which is why shoots do not develop and seeds do not appear.
How to get rid of aphids on cabbage
The stalks are not left in the beds; it is better to put them in piles and burn them in the spring when they dry out.
Be sure to destroy weeds of the cruciferous family. Carrots, dill and other umbelliferous plants are planted next to the cabbage beds. They will attract insects that will protect the plants from aphids.
When aphids appear, plants are treated with infusions of tobacco, garlic, onions, potato tops with the addition of soap for “stickiness”.
Among chemical means of combating aphids, the following preparations are known: "Decis": 0.3 g per 5 liters of water, "Karbofos": 30 g per 5 liters of water.
Solutions are used at a rate of 1 liter per 10 square meters.
