Experienced gardeners have long ago developed a formula for a luxurious grape harvest.
The first and most important thing should be done in the spring. It is better not to delay this procedure, otherwise you can harm the plant.
Thrifty gardeners cover the grapes in late autumn so that frost does not destroy the bushes.
In spring, the cover must be removed, otherwise the plant will rot. Often, the structure is formed in two stages.
First, the grapes are bent to the ground and covered with a light, dense material. Then they are sprinkled with a second layer, for example, sawdust is used.
In spring, the shelter is also dismantled in two stages. First, the sawdust is removed. At this stage, the grapes are ventilated, but at the same time protected from recurrent cold.
The plant is completely freed from cover when the average daily temperature does not drop below +10 °C.
While waiting for the right moment, the grapes may wake up under the covering material. There is nothing wrong with this, but it is an excellent opportunity to protect young leaves from possible frosts.
