The favorable time for planting garlic is considered to be April - May, when the soil has warmed up to 5-7 degrees and there are no serious frosts.

To get an impressive harvest of large garlic, you need to plant it skillfully.

How to plant garlic in open ground

If you didn't have time to plant garlic before winter, then you need to do it correctly in the spring, following 4 simple tips. In this case, the harvest will certainly please.

1. There will be a lot of garlic in the garden bed where cucumbers, grains or corn were previously grown.

2. Garlic is planted in a bed where the soil is not too waterlogged. The plant needs areas with sufficient lighting, where water does not stagnate. At the same time, garlic will need regular watering. Otherwise, the heads will grow the size of a penny coin.

3. Large bulbs are selected for planting. The cloves are disinfected in 2 solutions:

  • ½ tablespoon of salt per 600-700 ml of water for 3 minutes;
  • 1 tablespoon of copper sulfate per 1 bucket of water – dip.

After this procedure, the garlic is washed in clean water and you can begin planting.

4. The beds do not require any special preparation. If the soil is not heavy, you can add compost, if it is clayey, add peat, if it is sandy, add a little clay and dig it over.
