Many gardeners have long since stopped picking, but simply sow pepper seeds directly into disposable containers.
But the other side insists on carrying out this extremely important manipulation of the seedlings.
Therefore, if you are a supporter of picking pepper seedlings, take advantage of this useful information:
Start picking when the first two leaves appear on the plants.
Plant the seedlings in boxes according to a clear pattern: 8x8 cm, in separate cups or in cassette cells.
Mix one part peat, five parts rotted humus, three parts garden soil and fill the container for transplanting with this mixture.
Or combine humus with turf soil and sand in a ratio of 3:1:0.5. Or buy a universal soil mixture in a specialized store.
Buy containers for seedlings, these can be 0.5 l plastic cups, cassettes with cells or any pots and wooden boxes. Put some perlite or expanded clay on the bottom of the container, then fill it with soil mixture, but do not fill it to the top by 1-2 cm and water it and make a depression in it.
Do not transplant poorly developed plants. Take good seedlings for transplanting from below together with a lump of earth.
There is no need to pinch the roots of seedlings. Place them in prepared holes 1 cm lower than they grew before, sprinkle with soil and press lightly.
The soil for transplanting should be moist, then spray the seedlings with a little water using a spray bottle.
