If you notice that the beets growing in your garden have suddenly changed the color of their tops, you should be wary.
An expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh listed the most probable reasons that lead to such transformations.
High soil acidity
Soil acidification can be determined by the weeds growing in the area – horsetail, sorrel, sedge.
To eliminate such a problem, use dolomite flour. For 1 "square" of beds you will need 0.5 kg of dolomite, which should be scattered over the surface, and then loosen the soil.
Mineral deficiency in the soil
A lack of important microelements for beets in the soil can also lead to a change in the shade of the above-ground part.
To compensate for the lack of magnesium and manganese, experienced gardeners use chicken manure, which should be diluted with water in a ratio of 1 to 20 and left for 2 weeks. After the specified time, form a groove a couple of cm from the plants and fill it with the resulting solution.
Regular table salt can help with sodium deficiency. You will need 1 tablespoon of non-iodized rock salt per bucket of water. The solution should be used for root watering.
