Beets grow poorly on acidic, waterlogged podzolic and clay soils that are poor in organic matter.
It is recommended to grow this vegetable in beds where onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, and cabbage were grown.
Other root crops are not suitable, as they have common pests and diseases. For example, another place should be found for carrots, rutabagas, celery, parsnips, turnips.
But these are not the only conditions for an ideal harvest. Thus, many summer residents strive to grow sweet beets.
It turns out that getting such a harvest is not difficult. You just need to water the plant with a special solution. It is enough to do this once to get a result.
Fertilizer for beets
To increase the sweetness of the fruit, introduce the following solution: add 2 tablespoons of salt to 8 liters of water. Mix thoroughly, pre-water the bed generously with plain water. Then fertilize with a salt solution.
In order for the root crop to grow large, phosphorus-potassium fertilizing is needed. 15-20 days after the first thinning, superphosphate and potassium salt (1:1) are added at a rate of 15 g per 1 sq. m.
