Almost all gardeners are confident that it is very easy to grow good beets, because it is an unpretentious plant.

But this statement is wrong, because there are rules that must be followed in order to have a generous harvest.

Growing Beets

Beetroot grows well in loose and nutritious soil. Much depends, especially the taste, on the soil temperature at which it was planted and developed.

Beets should be planted in open areas with plenty of bright and saturated sunlight.
The soil should also be moderately acidic and its moisture balanced.

Watering affects the flesh of the root crop, its taste, storage and vulnerability to pests.

Beets grow best in areas where peas, beans, pumpkins, watermelons, tomatoes and potatoes were grown.

You can't plant beets in place of spinach, carrots and cabbage for about five years. During active growth, beets need to be fed.

A nettle infusion is good for this. Take chopped young nettle and pour warm water over it.

Do not use metal utensils. Stir the infusion every day for two weeks.

After half a month or a month, you can begin the next feeding. To do this, combine two glasses of wood ash with 1 tablespoon of salt and 10 liters of water.
