The annual plants that we will discuss further can be planted directly into the ground, and this is their second advantage. The first, of course, is beauty.
Today we will talk about flowers such as Clarkia amabilis and Godetia grandiflora.
These are practically identical species that have only slight differences in genetics, but that's not the point now.
The right time for sowing seeds is the end of April – beginning of May, when the soil is just thawing.
Please note that the seeds of these annuals are very small. If you sow them early, the depth should be about 5 mm, if later than May 15, you will have to sow them on a damp surface and sprinkle a little earth.
Clarkia and Godetia will enter when the soil warms up to 15 degrees Celsius. Important: try to time the sowing so that by that time the return frosts have already passed.
You will be able to admire their flowering within 1.5-2 months after sowing.
What is noteworthy is that annuals feel great in the most common – slightly acidic soil and practically do not need additional feeding, especially nitrogen.
For lush flowering, it is enough to fertilize the flowerbed with potassium sulfate once a month.
