Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to put in a lot of effort to harvest carrots twice a season.

An expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist, and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh described a planting method that is suitable for most regions.

So, the main thing to observe for a double harvest is the sowing time.

The time for the first sowing comes when the snow has not yet completely melted. In the southern regions, this is usually March, if we are talking about the middle zone - the end of April - beginning of May.

The second time you can put the seeds in the ground after 1-1.5 months, that is, at the end of May or the beginning of June.

The vegetable variety is also important – first of all, carrots with an early ripening period are planted – “Laguna”, “Saturno F1”, “Royal Chanson” and others.

For varieties that are used for the second harvest - "Samson", "Queen of Autumn", "Nantes" and others, that is, those that are mid- or late-ripening.

Don't forget to cover the prepared bed with film when sowing for the first time, and when the soil on the surface warms up, sow and cover the furrows with snow.

Install arches over the beds and cover them with spunbond - this way the snow will slowly melt and saturate the soil.
