With proper care, even an old apple tree will give a head start to a young tree and will be covered with juicy and aromatic fruits.

If the plant barely blooms and does not produce a harvest, this does not mean that it is time to get rid of the tree. A simple procedure can correct the situation.

You can determine the age of a tree by the diameter of the trunk. If it exceeds 20 cm, then we are talking about an old apple tree.

A gardener can help the tree concentrate on fruiting by pruning it twice a year.

Without regret, you need to get rid of dried, diseased, broken and branches growing at an acute angle.

Work with a sharp pruning shear or saw, simultaneously inspecting the tree trunk. There may be cracks in the bark that remained after the winter. They need to be sealed with garden pitch or another special agent.

If the growth is small - about 15-20 cm, then the tree has outlived its usefulness and requires radical pruning. Shoots 50-70 cm long are a good indicator. With proper care, apple trees grow and bear fruit for about 70 years.
