In February, summer residents prepare flowerpots, pots, soil, fertilizers and seeds.
One of the most important moments is planting seedlings. Already at this stage, the foundation of the future harvest begins to form.
The future of the seeds depends on how they are sown. Will the seedlings germinate, dry out or die from black leg?
Many dangers await young plants, but under the watchful eye of summer residents, seedlings will easily overcome all obstacles.
Flowers
Sowing depth plays a key role for flowers. For example, begonias and petunias need a lot of light. A thick layer of soil will make life difficult for seedlings; they may not even sprout if you pour a lot of soil on them.
Vegetables
As for vegetables, there are some nuances. So, peppers, eggplants, tomatoes are sown at a depth of 5-8 mm. Cucumbers and pumpkins are sent deeper - 1-1.5 cm.
Why is this important?
The key mistake of summer residents is that they simply plant the seeds deep and then wait for a miracle. But sometimes it does not happen, and then they start blaming the quality of the planting material.
But it is important to understand that if you plant the seeds too deep, the sprouts will not appear in 90% of cases. If you sow superficially, the roots will be outside, which is also bad for the seedlings.
