To grow a beautiful and abundantly blooming petunia, you should first of all take care of the correct adaptation of the seedlings to the environment.
According to the expert of the online publication Belnovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , if you do not help the seedlings when they are still very weak, they may die.
Remove the shelter
As soon as the shoots appear, the glass must be removed from the container in which the petunia seedlings are growing. This rule applies when the humidity in the room is high.
In a situation with dry air, the cover should first be slightly moved and removed little by little over the course of several days - this way the adaptation of the plants to the new conditions will occur gradually.
Provide additional lighting
The lamps above the crops should be turned on even before the shoots appear. After the first sprouts appear above the ground, experienced gardeners advise to illuminate them around the clock for two weeks.
Control the temperature
As soon as you start to provide additional lighting for petunia seedlings, make sure to reduce the air temperature to +17-20 degrees.
Water the seedlings
If it is necessary to maintain constant humidity during seed germination, then watering of the sprouted petunia should be alternated with drying of the soil.
Don't forget to loosen the soil between the rows - this is an excellent preventative measure against black leg.
