Growing greens on a windowsill is easier than any other vegetables, but sometimes after the shoots appear they suddenly dry out.
There are not many reasons for this in a plant, and all these problems can be solved very easily if you know what was done wrong.
1. Selecting a variety
Perhaps this is exactly the case. You need to inquire about the possibility of the variety you like to give a good harvest in a mini-greenhouse on the windowsill. In addition, these should be early varieties and necessarily resistant to dry air and lack of light.
2. Dense sowing
Dense sowing has no less detrimental effect on seedlings. In a limited space, after the emergence of seedlings, a deficiency of nutrition, light and air may occur. As a result, a pathogenic environment develops in the root zone, greenery rots and dries out completely.
3. Incorrect watering
The soil can be over-dried or over-watered. It is hard to tell right away which is worse at this stage, because in both cases the seedlings will lie down. That is why it is so important to irrigate the soil in a timely manner.
4. Air humidity
Growing greenery in an apartment during the heating season is not so easy due to low air humidity. The problem is solved by regular spraying. Sometimes it is easier to put a container of water next to the container or cover the heating radiator with a damp cloth.
