In spring, all living things wake up – flowers, trees, and at the same time ticks, snakes and other pleasant and unpleasant representatives of the kingdom of wild nature.
Everything would be fine, but sometimes they end up where they shouldn't be - in summer cottages and garden plots. We'll tell you how to ward off this trouble.
Before you take preventive measures, you need to understand why snakes are crawling towards you.
1. Of course, reptiles need food, and mice and other rodents may have bred in your dacha. The snakes will crawl back as soon as it turns out that there is nothing for them to eat in your dacha.
2. Snakes also need shelter, like all living creatures. Reptiles hide not only in holes and burrows, but also in thick grass, piles of stones or remains of construction waste.
3. If there is an abandoned plot, field or forest belt behind your fence, then it is quite possible that reptiles may settle in its thickets. It is possible that they will appear on your territory as well.
What are snakes afraid of?
Snakes do not like noise, sharp sounds, unpleasant smells, and not only chemical ones. They say that vipers do not like garlic, ammonia, burnt grass and mustard. Of the technical liquids, they do not like naphthalene and diesel fuel.
How to fight
Snakes are not friends with hedgehogs, so if a family of prickly snakes suddenly settles on your property, take care of their comfortable stay, and the hedgehogs will catch all the reptiles.
You can install repellents that vibrate, make noise, or emit signals and sounds that drive away snakes.
As a folk remedy, you can sprinkle mustard powder on the border of the plot. You can plant garlic around the perimeter or leave a rag soaked in diesel fuel, mothballs, and other compounds. They also say that snakes can be scared away with the help of folk "spinners" that are used to scare moles.
But if snakes have firmly established themselves on your property, then it is better to invite a specialist to catch them.
